Beauty: How many hours we need per day & how much money we spend per month?

Recently, I read a Feature article in Oman Daily Observer which wrote:
UK Women spend 21 hours on beauty ritual per month

It was based on a research done by Seven Seas where among others it said British Women spend 20 to 45 minutes per day equating to 21 hours per month for beauty regime ...

Further more the findings of the study revealed that British Women spent about 100 pounds per month on their skin, hair, manicure, pedicure and other beauty treatment.

Yet, very Interestingly, the article also scribed that despite the time and money women invest in their appearance, over one-fifth admit they have cancelled a social occasion because of bad hair or skin day.
Wow! Really? Perhaps an infamous PMS or the Big M> monopausal stage :D
Whatever the reason, we shall leave the benefit of the doubt to them ...

From Oman Daily Observer (features - Sunday, 6 Oct 2013)

After reading the article, I asked randomly to some women from different nationalities whom I met in just less than a day about their views and I found these:

1. A lady whose roots were Arabs but now living in Middle East and exercising the Western culture reiterated that in her society, the ladies are very particular with their beauty especially facial treatment, hair care, manicure and pedicure. They would go for manicure and pedicure almost every week and religiously going for facial and hair care as their monthly schedule. These include facial hair, eye brow and lip threading. Not forgetting to undergo Moroccan bath, scrubbing, massaging and other related spa treatment! Indeed, this cost a bomb from their purses :D

2. With her simplicity towards life, another friend from India opined that she would not go for elaborate beauty treatment. She does most of the beauty treatments particularly manicure and pedicure @home. But she was very particular about her hair care and for that she does not mind to spend extras on it at the beauty saloon. Also she's not into make ups, therefore expenses on cosmetics were minimal.

3. A Far Eastern woman I met and I asked her opinion on this subject. Her frank answer was "as far as my hair cut is concerned I trusted my own hair stylist." And for that she would travel back to her home country at least once a month to meet her hairdresser and had her hair treatments! For facial and skin care, she uses western products. She doesn't mind spending for manicure and pedicure as monthly treatment at local salons but with foreign specialist tending her. Her preference is still people from the west.

4. I met a beautiful lady from my country and her view was admirable. When enquired, she said, "I did all the basic beauty treatment myself including facial and manicure pedicure." She further opined, "Over here, the price of beauty treatment was exorbitant which two or three times the price at home."

When she went home for summer and Christmas holidays, she made it a point to  'park' her whole body for two hours 'half-year' spa and massage in a zen environment beauty salon. All in all she said she only spend about RM400 which was equivalent to OR50. Yes, that's it - about 100 Pounds for half year treatment which lasted for six months! Similarly, her beauty products although of western brand but she purchased in her home country usually at Airport Duty Free every six months. So, she could budget her expenses well.

5. A European lady friend said she had her hair trimmed or cut in her home country during summer holidays. But, for weekly hair care she would go to Muscat Beauty Salon @Sabco. As of beauty regime such as monthly facial she went to Kaya Skin and for her manicure and pedicure, her preference was at Ayana Spa. For daily beauty regime she spends about 10 minutes in the morning and another 10 minutes before she goes to bed. Since, she wears very little make ups except a lip gloss during the day or a little bit more when she had to attend functions in the evenings, so her time spend in front of the mirror for beauty rituals is less demanding.

In sum, all the ladies I met and talked to agreed that beauty regime is necessary for all women - be they young or old. Most of them apply the three steps beauty regime @home twice a day - washing, toning and moisturizing. They did facial too. Generally on a monthly basis either at home or beauty salons. Some just applied the facial masks and peeled them off after about half an hour. But all of them believe that facial treatment helps to remove old skin or exfoliate them. The result would be they feel refresh and revitalize!

As of the hours spend for beauty treatment at home, they took less than twenty minutes. However, if they had to go for an evening out, then they will spend a longer time to get ready with a little heavy make ups and hair dos! As of the money spent for beauty regime and other related matters, their answers were "so far manageable and no complaints from spouses yet!"
