In life, we have to do lots of sacrifices. It shows our sincerity in fulfilling our obligations to our Creator, our nation and our loved ones. As a DS I can't ran away from sacrifices. Of course, we have choices, but whatever the choices we made they are followed by consequences. Just like tomorrow, how I wish, I am with my kiddos celebrating the Feast of Sacrifices. If I choose them, I'll be neglecting my duty as a wife to Mr Right who has a duty to our nation and our fellow countrymen! So, I have to choose one. I sacrifice my loved ones for my other love one! I celebrated Eid Adha with Mr Right and other Malaysians in Oman :D
Anyway, I've called my kiddos and they truly understood their parents's duties and responsibilities. We're blessed by their love and prayers for our well being in performing our duty and celebrating Eid wherever we're posted with friends from host countries and our fellow countrymen. They are used to our physical absence but never at heart! As for them, they assured us as not to worry about them. They will celebrate Eid Adha together as siblings in our family home and also in their in laws. We're truly Thankful to Allah SWT for their love and forever understanding. Big TQ Kiddos!
This year in Muscat, the Feast of Sacrifices means a week long celebration. I'm very fortunate to be here during this festive season where I observed huge crowds thronged the markets to purchase items and meat for the preparation of Eid delicacies. Mr Right and I joined the crowd to purchase foodies to be cooked for that special occasion apart from seventeen sheep patiently waited to be slaughtered in the slaughter house. Some of the meat will be distributed to the needy. Our thanks to Mr SU3 who was responsible for the task and huge responsibility :)
Last year, we attended Eid Adha Celebration at a friend's family home in Ibra. It was on the third day where they introduced us to their family members about 300 of them - from great grandparents to grandparents to parents and way down to children and nephews plus nieces to great grand children! Wow ... a truly big family gathering. We were told that on the first day of Eid, they performed the obligation with congregation of prayers followed by the slaughtering of camels, cows, goats, and sheep. On the second day of Eid, they enjoyed the grilled meat and mashakeek.
So, on the third day when we arrived at their family farm home surrounded by palm trees at lunch time, they served us the popular Omani delicacies known as shuwa. It was meat cooked undergrown for 24 hours! Indeed, we had great time together with the Al-Riyami family. Our heartiest gratitude to them all for having us and showing us the wonderful Omani hospitably which we truly enjoyed and cherish :)
This year Eid Adha Celebration falls on a beautiful Tuesday. We celebrated the happy day with our fellow countrymen @RumahMalaysia. The night before Eid, we prepared the hall for our guests. In the morning after Eid prayer, about ten families came to assist with the 'rewang' namely in cutting and distributing the slaughtered meat before we saved some to be cooked and shared with the others at lunch time during Eid Open House.
The forever helping hands @Eid Celebration. TQ All - the Pak Haji, staff and friends :)
The 'Chef'preparing ingredients for the lamb stew ... :)
Our Chief Chef cooked his specialty - The Lamb Stew and me as usual just prepared the sambal kicap cili padi to accompany it! Other chefs especially Mimi & Sista Leha cooked lamb curry while Mrs SU3 cooked the mixed vegetables for lunch. Dr Nurul, Ms Y, Mala and Mona helped with the preparation of the foodies especially the peeling and slicing potatoes, onions, garlics, gingers, lemon grass and the vegetables. Their husbands were busy 'melapah' the slaughtered meat for the cooking treat and distributions to the needy. And not forgotten CafeMsiaOman also did their part by turning the raw meat to roast lamb for lunch with all the meat supplied to them! Our gratitude to Chef RidMorat &Gang.
However, we had a truly great time together in the kitchen when we had nasi lemak and fried mee hoon for breakfast just before the 'gotong royong' and 'rewang' started. The feeling of ukhwah and togetherness were truly felt by all who joined hands in making the Feast of Sacrifice a success!
Happy faces of the beautiful assistants ... Ms Y, Dr Nurul and Mrs SU3!
After a hard days work, they're happy to have some char time mingling with each other in Rumah Malaysia kitchen ...
Mr Right & I celebrating Eid Adha with nurses from SQU @Feast of Sacrifices Open House in Rumah Malaysia. TQ for coming!!!
